FAQ/Rates

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions.

I have been a full-time freelance translator since August 2010.

I’m a French-speaking native and only translate into my mother tongue.

I provide English into French (European) translation as well as French proofreading.

I am a sworn translator for English and French.

I use SDL TRADOS STUDIO 2011 (which include SDL Multiterm 2011 and SDL Passolo Essentials 2011).

I usually charge € 0.08  per word for translation and € 0.04 per word for French proofreading, but my rate depends on various factors and it would be ideal if I could see the document or an extract of it before making final decisions. Don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m always open to reasonable suggestions.

I can translate  1500 to 2500 words a day, depending on the type of document.

My CV is available upon request. Go the contact page for ways to get in touch.

When it comes to specialisms, I have experience translating  Business and Finance, Theology and Philosophy, Psychology and Psychiatry, Technology, Hospitality, Letters, General Engineering, Hydrogeology and Construction Machines Simulators.

I have been trained in translating Legal, Patents, Technical, Political (Newsweek, Time Magazine, El Mundo…), Medical, Scientific (New Scientist), Business, Economical and Financial  (The Economist, The Financial Times…) texts, both from English into French and from Spanish into French. I am the most at ease with Business, economical and financial texts.

I also have an Honours BA in Theology and Religions with strong Philosophy and History options, so these kind of texts would suit me too.

I can take on big projects. I’ve already done several translations of up to 65,000 words.

I don’t do interpretation. For an article explaining the diferences between translation and interpretation, click here.

When it comes to work ethics, I endorse the Proz.com Professional Guidelines for Translation Service Providers. You can find those guidelines here.
